Southport based sight loss charity, Galloway’s Society for the Blind, is bringing back a blast of colour to Southport’s Princes Park and Promenade on the 15th July with the 2018 Colour Blast, sponsored by Southport & KGV College.

The 5K route is taking place on the 15th July at Princes Park in Southport and will begin at 11.00am. Previously the event has had over 400 participants take part and people can run, walk, or dance the course!

Charlotte Carnell, Fundraiser at Galloway’s commented, “The Southport Colour Blast is an event like no other and what better way to have fun than being able to get bright, colourful and messy; all whilst making a vital difference to local blind and partially sighted people. There are over 50,000 people living in the Sefton and Lancashire area affected by sight loss. The Colour Blast is for all abilities and something that all the family can take part in. All money raised at the Colour Blast will go a long way towards supporting those affected by sight loss.

At Galloway’s are really pleased that Southport & KGV College are the main sponsor for the event for the second year running. It is only with support like this from the local community that we are able to host events like the Colour Blast.

There are still sponsorship opportunities available to businesses in Southport. It’s perfect chance for your business to be involved in a community event that is going to bring together over 400 participant and spectators. If you would like to be involved or would like more information then please contact or call 01772 744148.

Nathan Scanlon with his children Kian and Evie

Nathan Scanlon a previous participant, commented, “Myself and my two children took part in the 2017 Colour Blast, it wasn’t about running the 5K, but rather making a difference by getting as bright and as colourful as possible. It was a fantastic day and the children absolutely loved it. What made it even better was knowing we were making a difference to the lives of local visually impaired people through the sponsorship we raised. I’d urge anybody to try this event – it really is one the whole family can enjoy.”

Galloway’s supports over 7,000 blind and partially sighted people across Sefton and Lancashire at any point during someone’s sight loss journey whether that be at the point of diagnosis or being encouraged to live independently.
