New Town Centre Car Park Opens

People visiting Chorley can now park on the new car park on Cleveland Street, which opened last week.
The new town centre car park has 44 spaces including two electric vehicle bays and three disabled bays, and will help accommodate more people travelling to the town centre.
The car park has been created in preparation for the Market Walk extension so that there are plenty of spaces for people to park when construction begins in the next few months.
Councillor Alistair Bradley, Leader of Chorley Council said:
“Parking is an important issue that has been raised by traders and shoppers so we have listened to feedback and are sorting the town centre parking out before the development for the Market Walk extension begins. The former Royal Oak building space is now a 44 space car park and is centrally located so that people will have easy access to the shops and our markets. The car park will also serve as a temporary events space, which will cater to some of the many events that are usually held across the town centre.”
The car park is a short stay car park with up to 1 hour free parking (with a time of arrival ticket) during chargeable hours and will be open in the evenings.
Cleveland Street car park has been created amongst several other car park developments, including the multi-level decked car park on Friday Street which is currently under construction.
