Chorley’s Picnic in the Park
Almost 8,000 people checked out Chorley’s annual event at Astley Park on Sunday 25th June and enjoyed a fun filled afternoon at Picnic in the Park.
Astley Park came alive with laughter, music and games from the families who came out to play at the event. The day also included live entertainment on the Rock FM stage, from CBeebies stars Sid and Rebecca, Gabz and Ella Shaw from Britain’s Got Talent, children’s entertainer, Adrian Catch and the Chorley Choir, Sing It Big.
Children also had the opportunity to take part in workshops, had a go at traditional games, such as bowls and golf, showed off their football skills at the Chorley Football Club shootout zone with star players, Marcus Carver and Victor Magpie, took part in the Xplorer orienteering Challenge and enhanced their artistic skills from Lancashire Adult College.
Free face painting was also available at the event and Astley Hall had hundreds of people through the historic doors throughout the day.
Deputy Leader of Chorley Council, Councillor Peter Wilson, said: “Picnic in the Park is one of our most popular events and it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying the brilliant atmosphere and entertainment in the beautiful surroundings of Astley Park.
“Sid and Rebecca were a big hit with the crowd who had travelled from across Chorley as well as from surrounding towns like Wigan, Bolton, Preston, Leyland and even Manchester. All of the acts and activities were fantastic and gave plenty of families another great day out in Chorley.
Picnic in the Park is just one of the many great events organised by Chorley Council to give people in the community and visitors a great day out in Chorley.
